Attention please! Could you, yes, you! Humanity! Look up! Strain your eyes and tell me what you see! The sun, stars or even sky? No? Dear humanity, will you look around? Left, right. Do you see a tree? A smile, green grace or laughter?

Dear humanity! Please! Can you see buildings, cars, taste exhaust and feel asphalt beneath your feet? Dear humanity, can you hear me above the chorus of horns and engines that accompanies your life?

Like children amidst castles of sand, this world built up so high will fall, topple, washed from beneath your feet when rains fall and waters rise. The only constant is destruction, and dear humanity, you’ve written this equation a bit too well.

When castles fall, where will you go? Washed away like the dreams you constructed so carefully, or shall you stand, higher, stronger, and alive?

Dear humanity, dear children, where will you be? In the forest of consequences and possibilities where all men return someday, will you cut it down to rebuild castles, or will this time be the charm, and together, dear humanity, will we climb above the rubble of our past and learn to fly?

Dear humanity, I beg you, learn to climb with me, for we were meant for more than asphalt-exhaust-flavors, siren serenades all night and castles of sand. Dear humanity, we were meant:

Playing among the ruined languages,
So small beside their large confusing words
So gay against the greater silences
Of dreadful things you did…

This reminds me of Ozymandias, but with a different ending. Good job.

Is the piece supposed to end with a colon, though? Or is there more after that that got lost somewhere? It certainly gives it an enigmatic twist.

thank you! Yeah, it's supposed to end like that. Tried to use it to give a sense of -insert incomplete list-.

And also provoke some questioning maybe? So people are like 'What was it going to say?'
